This child travel consent form with one parent is for the most common family trip: the children fly with one parent while the other stays behind. The parent who is not travelling signs a short letter before a notary.

Three ways to get it notarised
In person with our in-house notary public
The staying parent brings the original ID. The notary public checks it, reads the letter, watches the signature and applies the seal (Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 7).
Home or office visit
We come to the staying parent's home or office, which helps when they work long hours.
Online

Some airlines and offices call this an NOC letter for a child travelling with one parent. The wording below works under either name. If the office gives you its own form, use theirs.
Version 1: father consents to travel with the mother
CONSENT FOR CHILDREN TO TRAVEL WITH THEIR MOTHER
I, [father's full name], [nationality], passport number [number], Emirates ID number [number], am the father of the following child or children:

Version 2: mother consents to travel with the father

Separated and divorced parents
- Shared custody: the parent who is not travelling signs. Keep a copy of the custody arrangement with the travel documents.
- Sole custody by court order: bring the order when we draft. The letter can refer to it, and the travelling parent should carry a copy.
- The other parent will not sign: a notary cannot seal a consent the other parent has not given. This is a legal question, not a paperwork one, and needs a family lawyer.
- The other parent is abroad: they can sign before a notary or an accredited UAE consul where they live, and send the original. It may then need attestation for use in the UAE.
Mistakes to avoid
Mistakes that get a letter refused
- The travelling parent signs the letter. It must be the parent who stays.
- The children's names are written as used at home, not as printed in the passport.
- The return date is left out.

Frequently asked questions
Does the travelling parent need a letter too?
No. The letter comes from the parent who is not on the trip. The travelling parent carries it.
Can one letter cover several children?
Yes. List each child with their passport number. The father to mother version shows how.
Can the consent cover more than one trip?
Normally one trip with fixed dates. For repeated travel, a broader document may fit better, as the child travel consent letter page explains.
Do airlines always ask for this letter?
Not always, but they can, and so can border officers. A notarised letter avoids the risk.
