Legal Notice for Cancellation of Power of Attorney in Dubai
A legal notice for cancellation of power of attorney tells your attorney in writing that the power you gave is cancelled. The notice is delivered through a notary public, so it carries a notary's seal. Use it when you want to cancel power of attorney in Dubai and keep proof.
We draft the notice and check it. We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit private notary services.

In short
- Price: from AED 2,000. We confirm the final price before you pay. Government fees are paid on top at cost.
- Who signs: the person who gave the power of attorney (the principal).
- What to bring: original Emirates ID or passport, and a copy of the power of attorney if you have one.
- Where: in person, at your home or office, or online.
- Next step: send us the power of attorney on WhatsApp.
Three ways to get it notarised
In person with our in-house notary public
The notary public checks your original ID, reads the notice, watches you sign and applies the seal. We prepare the text and the Arabic version first.
Home or office visit
We come to your home, hospital or office. Price on request, plus the Dubai private notary government fee of AED 1,000 per trip outside the place of work.
Online
UAE law lets a notary use IT tools in place of personal appearance (Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 18). A principal abroad can use this route. See our e-notary guide.
Can I cancel a power of attorney?
Yes. The principal can revoke an agency under the Civil Transactions Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025, Article 898). Tell your attorney in writing, and tell any office that holds a copy. A notarised notice gives you a sealed record that you did so.
The law sets no fixed term for a power of attorney. The term written in the document applies (Article 897). A power with an end date ends on that date, and you do not need a notice for that.

Sample wording
Notice for cancellation of power of attorney: sample to adapt
LEGAL NOTICE: CANCELLATION OF POWER OF ATTORNEY
To: [attorney's full name as in passport], [nationality], passport number [number], address [address]
From: [principal's full name as in passport], [nationality], passport number [number] and Emirates ID number [number]
On [date], I gave you a power of attorney, notarised on [date], reference [number if known], for [short description, for example "my property at (location)"].
I cancel that power of attorney from the date of this notice. You must not act in my name under it from today.
Please return all copies and originals of the power of attorney to me by [date], and stop any matter you have started under it.
I will also tell the offices and banks that hold a copy.
Date: [date]
Signature of principal: ______________
[Notary's certificate and seal]
Copy the wording and fill in the details. We check it and send you a clean version.
After the notice
- Tell every office that holds a copy. A bank, a company or a government office may still accept the old document until it hears otherwise.
- Keep the sealed notice. It shows the date you cancelled.
- Keep your own copies of the old power of attorney. They help you list who to tell.
- Check any work already started. Things the attorney did before the notice are a separate matter. Ask a lawyer licensed in the UAE if money or property is involved.
If the power of attorney was signed in Abu Dhabi, that emirate has its own fee list. The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department lists AED 100 for a power of attorney revocation, and this figure is for Abu Dhabi only.
Mistakes to avoid
Mistakes to avoid
- No copy of the original. Give the date and reference so the notice names the right document.
- Telling the attorney by phone only. Put it in writing.
- Forgetting the third parties. A cancelled power can still be shown at a counter.
- Cancelling in anger. Stick to the facts.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
How do I cancel a power of attorney in Dubai?
Give your attorney a written notice and tell every office that holds a copy. A notarised notice adds a notary's seal and a date to that record.
Do I need the attorney to agree?
No. The principal can revoke an agency, as the Civil Transactions Law says. The notice tells the attorney that you have done so.
Is the cancellation the same as a new power of attorney?
No. A cancellation ends the old one. If you want someone else to act, you sign a new one. See our special power of attorney page.
Can I cancel from abroad?
Yes, where you can sign through the online route. We explain the steps when you contact us.
