Power of attorney

Power of Attorney Dubai: Draft, Sign and Use It

A power of attorney in Dubai is a signed document that lets another person act for you. You are the principal. The person you choose is your agent. We draft it, check it and have it signed before a notary public.

We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit private notary services. Choose us for fast track power of attorney work in the UAE.

In short

  • Price from: AED 1,500, plus government fees at cost.
  • Who signs: the principal, with original ID. The agent usually does not need to attend.
  • What to bring: passport or Emirates ID for the principal, ID details for the agent, and a clear note of what the agent may do.
  • Where: in person, at your home or office, or online.
  • Next step: send us the task and the IDs on WhatsApp.

Three ways to get your power of attorney notarised

In person with our in-house notary public

The notary public checks the principal's original ID, reads the document, watches you sign and applies the seal. We prepare the text first, with an Arabic version beside the English one.

Home or hospital visit

We come to your home, hospital or office. Price on request, plus the Dubai private notary government fee of AED 1,000 per trip outside the place of work.

Online

UAE law lets a notary use IT tools in place of personal appearance (Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 18). Read how it works in our e-notary guide.

Types of power of attorney we prepare

The right type depends on the task. Pick the narrowest one that does the job.

Checklist

What to prepare

  • The principal's passport or Emirates ID.
  • The agent's full name as in their passport, nationality and ID numbers.
  • A plain list of what the agent may do, and for which asset or matter.
  • An end date, or the event that ends it.
  • Details of the asset, such as a plate and chassis number or a property number.

Step by step

How it works

1

Send us the task and the ID details on WhatsApp.

2

We draft the document and order the Arabic version with a legal translator.

3

You check the wording. We change anything that is wrong.

4

The principal signs before the notary public with original ID.

5

You receive the sealed document. If it is going to an office abroad, we take care of the MOFAIC attestation.

Mistakes to avoid

Mistakes that get a power of attorney refused

  • Names that do not match. Write each name exactly as in the passport.
  • Broad words for a sale. Name the act and the asset. Article 871 limits broad wording to management.
  • No end date. The law sets no fixed term. The document's own term applies (Article 897).
  • Asking a notary for something outside the role. The notary must decline in the cases listed in Dubai Law No. 4 of 2013, Article 24.
  • Skipping the receiving office. Some banks and offices publish their own form. Ask before you sign.

Using it abroad or at MOFAIC

If the power of attorney goes to an office outside the UAE, it needs MOFAIC attestation first. MOFAIC works online only. Its fee is AED 150 for a power of attorney of a personal nature and AED 2,000 for a general or commercial one. The UAE is not an Apostille party, so no apostille applies to a UAE document. We take care of the MOFAIC attestation for you. See the private notary services overview.
