Child Travel Consent Form UAE to India: Template for Indian Families
This child travel consent form UAE to India template is for Indian parents living in the UAE whose child is flying to India without one or both of them: with the mother for the summer, with grandparents after a visit, or with an uncle for a family wedding. The parent who is not travelling fills it in and signs it, ideally before a notary. It comes as a Word file to edit and a PDF to print.
The letter does one job: it shows the airline and immigration officers at both ends that the parent who stays behind knows about the trip and agrees to it.
At a glance
- Who signs: each parent who is not on the flight. If neither parent travels, both sign.
- Who carries it: the adult travelling with the child, with a copy in the cabin bag and a photo on the phone.
- What to attach: copies of the child's passport and the signing parent's passport and Emirates ID.
- Notarisation: a notarised letter carries more weight at a check-in desk than a plain signed one, and some officers ask for it.
- Indian paperwork: if the trip involves an Indian passport application or renewal for the child, the Indian mission's own forms apply, not this letter.
When Indian families use this letter
- One parent flies with the child to Kochi, Hyderabad or Mumbai while the other stays in Dubai for work.
- Grandparents who visited the UAE take the child back to India for the holidays.
- An older child travels with an aunt, uncle or family friend.
- Separated parents agree a holiday in India with one of them.

This is a sample. Change it to fit your family, and check whether your airline or any office involved has its own form. Where an authority's exact wording is needed, it is marked.
Attach: copy of the child's passport, copy of your passport and Emirates ID, and copy of the accompanying adult's passport.
CONSENT LETTER FOR TRAVEL OF A MINOR

2. I give my full consent for my child to travel from [departure airport], United Arab Emirates, to [arrival airport], India, on [date], on flight [airline and flight number], and to return to the United Arab Emirates on or about [return date].
3. During this trip my child will travel with [full name of accompanying adult], [relationship to child], holder of [nationality] passport number [number].
4. While in India my child will stay at [full address in India, with PIN code]. The contact number in India is [+91 number].
5. I authorise [name of accompanying adult] to take day to day decisions for my child during the trip, including consenting to emergency medical treatment if I cannot be reached.

Authorization letter for a minor to travel without parents to India
If neither parent flies, the same letter works with two changes. Both parents sign, each with their own passport and Emirates ID details in paragraph 1, and paragraph 3 names the adult in charge, for example a grandparent. An airline's unaccompanied minor service, where a child flies with no adult at all, has its own forms.
The wording
Filling it in: the details that cause trouble
UAE to India
- The child's name Copy it exactly from the child's Indian passport, including any surname the passport shows.
- The address in India Give the full address with PIN code, not just the city.
- Dates If the return date is not fixed, write "on or about" a date rather than leaving it blank.
- Flight details If you do not have the flight number yet, write the airline and date, and update before signing.
- Language English is usually read by airlines. A Dubai notary will want an Arabic translation beside it (Dubai Law No. 4 of 2013, Article 27). See translation and notary services.
Step by step
Getting it notarised in the UAE

Fill in the Word file, but do not sign.

Send it to us. We check it against the passports and order the Arabic translation.

We book the notary at an office or at your home.

You sign in the notary's presence, showing the original passport and Emirates ID. The notary looks at both, confirms you understand and agree, and seals the letter (Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 7).

You receive the sealed letter to hand to the travelling adult.
If an Indian office asks for the letter to be attested, ask which step they mean: MOFAIC in the UAE, the Indian mission, or both.

Frequently asked questions
Is there an official child travel consent form India PDF?
Families usually write their own letter, which is why a clear and complete one matters. Our PDF and Word template cover the details officers usually look for.
My husband is in India. Can he sign there instead?
Yes, he can sign before a notary in India. If a UAE office later wants that Indian letter, it will probably have to be legalised in India and attested here. It is often simpler for the parent in the UAE to be the one signing here.
How long before the flight should we sign?
Close enough that the travel dates are fixed, and early enough to allow for a translation.
Do I need one letter for each child?
One letter can name several children if they travel together, with each child's passport details listed.
