Power of attorney
Power of Attorney for Property Dubai: Real Estate POA Through a Notary
A power of attorney for property Dubai owners sign lets another person act for them on a flat, villa or plot. The agent can manage it, rent it, or buy or sell it, depending on what you write.
We draft it, check it and have it signed before a notary public. We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit private notary services.
In short
- Price from: AED 1,500, plus government fees at cost.
- Who signs: the owner or buyer giving the authority. A joint owner signs too.
- What to bring: passport or Emirates ID, property details, and the agent's ID details.
- Where: in person, at home, hospital or office, or online.
- Next step: send us the property details and the task on WhatsApp.
Three ways to get it notarised
In person with our in-house notary public
The notary public checks your original ID, reads the document, watches you sign and applies the seal. We prepare the English text and the Arabic version first.
Home or hospital visit
We come to your home, hospital or office. Price on request, plus the Dubai private notary government fee of AED 1,000 per trip outside the place of work.
Online
UAE law lets a notary use IT tools in place of personal appearance (Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 18). See our e-notary guide.
Choose the power that matches the task
Property powers differ in size. Pick the smallest one that does the job.
- Manage and rent. Collect rent, deal with tenants, arrange repairs. See property management power of attorney.
- Sell. Find a buyer, agree the price and sign the sale papers. See power of attorney to sell property.
- Buy. Agree and sign a purchase for you. Name the property, or the budget and type, in the document.
- A single act. One named task, such as signing a tenancy renewal. See our special power of attorney page.
Under UAE civil law, a power in broad words covers management acts only, and sale needs a special agency that names the act (Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025, Articles 870 and 871).
What the notary does and does not do
The notary public attests your signature and checks your ID. The notary does not register property rights. Dubai Law No. 4 of 2013 bars a notary from real property rights and matters reserved to another authority (Article 21).
The transfer, registration or tenancy step happens at the authority that deals with property. Ask the office what wording it wants before you sign.
Details to put in it
- The owner and the agent, with names exactly as in their passports.
- The property: unit and building, area, and the title or plot number if you have it.
- The tasks, each in plain words.
- Money limits, such as a minimum sale price or a rent range.
- The end: a date, or the end of the task.
Mistakes to avoid
Mistakes that get it refused
- Broad words for a sale. Name the sale.
- A wrong unit or plot number.
- Names that differ from the passport.
- No end date. The law sets no fixed term. The document's own term applies (Article 897).
Step by step
How it works
1
Send us the property details and the agent's details.
2
We draft the text and the Arabic version, and you check it.
3
You sign before the notary public with original ID.
4
Give the sealed document to your agent.
If you live abroad, you sign before a notary in your country. The document then needs MOFAIC attestation in the UAE. MOFAIC lists a power of attorney of a personal nature as an individual document and a general or commercial one as commercial.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a notary for property matters in Dubai?
For a power of attorney, yes. You sign it before a notary public. The notary does not register property rights, so a sale or transfer is completed at the authority that handles property.
Can I cancel a property power of attorney?
Yes. The principal can revoke the agency (Article 898). Tell your agent in writing. The Dubai Land Department publishes a free revocation service for a power of attorney registered with it.
Can I give one power for rent and sale?
You can, but a narrow power is easier to accept. Write each task out.
Is there a fixed validity period?
No. The document's own term applies, so write an end date.
