Affidavit of Support Abu Dhabi: Sample With the Sponsor's Undertaking

This affidavit of support Abu Dhabi sample is for residents of Abu Dhabi who must swear that they will support a visiting relative and take responsibility for the visit. It adds a fuller undertaking than a basic support letter: who pays for what, and the promise that the visitor leaves on time.

Three ways to get it notarised

In person with our in-house notary public

You sign before the notary public. They check your original ID, read the affidavit, ask you to confirm it is true, watch you sign and apply the seal (Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 7).

Home or office visit

Ask us about a visit to your address in Abu Dhabi. The sponsor signs after the notary checks ID and reads the affidavit out. See mobile private notary services.

Use the office's own wording if it gave you one. Remove any clause you cannot truthfully swear to.

AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT AND UNDERTAKING

I, [full name of sponsor], [nationality], holder of passport number [number] and Emirates ID number [number], residing at [villa or flat number, building, street, area], Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, state on oath:

1. I am employed by [employer] as [job title] and my monthly salary is AED [amount].

2. [Full name of visitor], [nationality], holder of passport number [number], is my [relationship].

3. [He / she] will visit the United Arab Emirates from [date] to [date] and will live with me at the address above.

4. As sponsor and guarantor of this visit, I undertake to pay for [his / her] accommodation, food, travel within the UAE, medical treatment and any health insurance required, and the return air ticket.

5. I undertake that [he / she] will respect the laws of the United Arab Emirates and will leave the country on or before the date [his / her] visa expires.

6. I understand that I am responsible for any cost arising from this visit that [he / she] cannot meet.

7. The statements in this affidavit are true and correct.

Attestation if it goes abroad

An embassy abroad may want MOFAIC attestation first, then its own. The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. A legal translator prepares the Arabic version through our translation services.

Mistakes to avoid

  • An undertaking you cannot keep If you cannot cover medical costs, do not swear that you will.
  • Different spellings Copy the visitor's name from the passport, not the visa application.

Frequently asked questions

Is an affidavit of support from Abu Dhabi different from one in Dubai?

No, it is the same kind of sworn statement. The sponsor's address, the tenancy document and sometimes the office's wording change.

What does "guarantor" mean in an affidavit of support?

It means the sponsor accepts personal responsibility for the visitor's costs and departure. In our sample, that is the undertaking in clauses 4 to 6.

Can I sign the affidavit in Dubai if I live in Abu Dhabi?

Yes. The result is a notarised UAE document wherever you sign. Check that the receiving office has no emirate preference.

Can my spouse sign instead of me?

No. Only the person making the promise can swear the affidavit. If your spouse will pay, they should be the affiant.
