Contract Addendum Notarization in Dubai
Contract addendum notarization Dubai parties ask for is simple. An addendum is a short written change to a contract that is already signed: a new clause, a changed price, a new date. The parties sign it before a notary public, who checks identity and consent and seals it.
We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit private notary services. We draft the addendum and take care of the Arabic text.
In short
- Price: on request, plus government fees at cost.
- Who signs: every party to the original contract, or a person holding a power of attorney for that party.
- What to bring: a copy of the original contract, the trade licence for a company party, and original IDs of each signer.
- Where: in person, at your office, or online.
- Next step: WhatsApp us the contract and the change you agreed.
Three ways to get it notarised
In person with our in-house notary public
The notary public checks each signer's original ID, reads the addendum, watches every party sign and applies the seal. Quick to read, because the document is short.
Home or office visit
We bring the notary public to your office or home. Price on request, plus the Dubai private notary government fee of AED 1,000 per trip outside the place of work.
Online
UAE law lets a notary use IT tools in place of personal appearance (Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 18). See our e-notary guide.
When you need an addendum
Use an addendum when the original contract stays in force and only some terms change. Common cases:
- A new price, rent or payment date.
- An extra service, product or site added to the deal.
- A longer or shorter contract period.
- A new person or company added as a party, or a party replaced.
- A clause removed or rewritten.
If the whole deal is ending, a termination agreement fits better. A change to a company's memorandum of association is a company document with its own rules, so call or WhatsApp us before you start.
What an addendum should say
- The names and details of every party.
- The contract it changes: title, date and reference number.
- Each change, in its own numbered paragraph. Quote the old clause number, then write the new wording.
- A line saying that every other term of the contract stays the same.
- The date the change starts.
- The signatures, with name and capacity under each.
Number the addendum if you expect more than one. "Addendum 1" and "Addendum 2" are easy for an office to follow.

- The agreed change, written down or told to us.
- Original Emirates ID or passport of each signer.
- The trade licence of each company party.
- A power of attorney, where one person signs for another.

Mistakes to avoid
Mistakes that slow a signing
- The addendum does not name the contract it changes.
- The new wording clashes with a clause nobody changed.
- A party named in the contract is missing from the signing.
- The addendum is signed before every party has agreed the final text.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is an addendum to a contract?
It is a written change to a signed contract. It adds, removes or changes terms and leaves the rest of the contract as it was.
Does the original contract need to be notarised first?
Not necessarily. Ask the office that will rely on the contract. Notarising the change as well keeps the two papers matching.
Who signs an addendum?
The parties to the original contract sign it, or a person holding a power of attorney for a party. If a new party joins, that party signs too.
Can you draft the addendum for us?
Yes. Tell us what changed, and we write the addendum from your contract. See legal drafting for how drafting works.
