Declaration Letter UAE: Templates, Including a Sworn Affidavit in Dubai

A declaration letter UAE offices ask for is a short signed statement of a fact about you: your name, your income, that you are not working, or that you will do something. When the office wants more weight, the same statement is made as a sworn affidavit before a notary.

Declaration of name

In short

  • Price from AED 600, drafted and signed. Government fee on top at cost: AED 300 as an affidavit, or AED 200 per party as a signature authentication.
  • Who signs: the person the facts are about, with original ID and the office's request.
  • Declaration or affidavit: use the office's words. "Under oath" means a sworn affidavit.

Three ways to get it notarised

In person with our in-house notary public

You sign before the notary public, who checks your original ID, reads the declaration and applies the seal.

Home, hospital or office visit

Online notary public

Federal law lets a notary use IT tools in place of personal appearance (Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 18). We can handle it through the official UAE channels, where the receiving office allows it. See the e-notary guide.

What is a declaration letter?

A declaration is a signed statement that something is true. An office abroad may call it a statutory declaration; in the UAE you sign the same kind of statement before a notary.

A sworn affidavit goes one step further: the signer takes an oath before the notary. Many embassies and employers ask for "an affidavit" or "a sworn statement".

How to write a declaration letter

Use your name as in your passport, one fact per numbered line, the purpose and the closing line "The above is true and correct." Leave the signature blank until you are before the notary. For an affidavit, add "state on oath".

Template 1: declaration of name (same person, different spellings)

For an undertaking about where you live, the declaration of residency sample is the better fit.

Sworn affidavit Dubai or declaration: which one?

  • "Declaration" or "notarised letter": a declaration signed before a notary (AED 200 per party, item 8).
  • "Affidavit", "sworn statement" or "under oath": a sworn affidavit (AED 300, item 12).
  • Its own printed form: use their form.

A UAE affidavit sent abroad may need MOFAIC and embassy attestation afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

What is a sworn affidavit?

A written statement the signer confirms under oath before a notary. It carries more weight than an ordinary declaration because the signer swears to its truth.

Does a declaration need to be in Arabic?

For Dubai authorities, the notary may need an Arabic version. Many embassies accept English. We take care of the legal translation if one is needed.

Can someone else sign a declaration for me?

No. The person the facts are about signs it, in person before the notary.

Can you prepare a single status affidavit in Dubai?

Yes. It is a sworn statement that you are not married, often asked for before a marriage abroad. See the single status affidavit format.
