Certified True Copy in Dubai, Checked Against Your Original

A certified true copy in Dubai is a copy of your document that a notary public has compared with the original and certified as a true copy. You need one when a bank, a university, an employer or an office abroad asks for a certified copy and you want to keep the original.

We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit private notary services. For a certified true copy, the notary public must see the original paper, so you bring it to us or we come to you.

In short

  • Price: from AED 400 for a general document, from AED 500 for a passport, degree or bank statement copy. Government fees at cost.
  • What to bring: the original document and your Emirates ID or passport.
  • Where: in person with our in-house notary public, or at your home or office.
  • You keep: the original. The certified copy goes to the office that asked for it.
  • Next step: send us a photo of the document on WhatsApp for the price.

Three ways to get your copy certified

In person with our in-house notary public

Bring the original and your ID. We check that each copy is clear and complete. The notary public then compares every page of the copy with the original, certifies it as a true copy and applies the seal.

Home or office visit

If you cannot come to us, we come to your home or office. Price on request, plus the Dubai private notary government fee of AED 1,000 per trip outside the place of work.

Start online

Send us a photo of the document on WhatsApp. We tell you the price and what to bring. To certify a copy, the notary public compares it with the original, so the paper itself still comes to the appointment.

Common documents for a certified true copy

These are the copies on our price list. If your document is not here, send it to us and we tell you whether it can be done and what it costs.

  • Passport: the photo page, or the pages the office asks for.
  • Degree, diploma or certificate: the certificate itself, and its back page if it carries stamps.
  • Transcripts and mark sheets: every page the office asks for.
  • Salary certificate or salary slips: the months the office asks for.
  • Bank statement: every page of the period asked for.
  • Driving licence: front and back.
  • Utility bill: as proof of address.
  • Aadhaar or PAN card: front and back.

Certified true copy of a passport

For a certified true copy of a passport, bring the passport itself, not a photo or a scan of it. Tell us which pages the office wants copied, for example the photo page only, or every page with a visa or a stamp.

The notary public compares each copied page with the passport before certifying it. A passport copy is priced from AED 500. Before the appointment, read the request letter and check how many copies and which pages it asks for.

Checklist

What to bring

  • The original document. A scan or a photo of the original is not enough.
  • Your Emirates ID or passport.
  • The number of certified copies you need, and of which pages.
  • The request from the office that asked for the copy, or its exact wording.
  • A translation, if the office does not read the language of the document. See our translation services.

Step by step

How it works

1

Send us a photo of the document on WhatsApp and tell us who asked for the copy.

2

We confirm the price and what to bring before you pay.

3

You bring the original to us, or we come to you.

4

The notary public compares each copy with the original, certifies it as a true copy and applies the seal.

5

You leave with the original and the certified copies. If a copy must also go to MOFAIC, see true copy attestation.

Mistakes to avoid

Mistakes that hold up a certified copy

  • Bringing a scan instead of the original. The notary public compares the copy with the original paper.
  • A copy that cuts off part of the page. Stamps, signatures and the page edges should all show.
  • Copies of the wrong pages. Check whether the office wants every page or only some.
  • Two documents that spell your name differently. Tell us before the appointment, so it is not a surprise at the office later.
  • Forgetting the next step. If the copy must be attested after the notary step, say so at the start.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is a certified true copy?

It is a copy of a document that a notary public has compared with the original and certified as a true copy, with the notary's seal on it. You keep the original and hand over the certified copy.

Can I get a certified true copy online?

You can start online. Send a photo on WhatsApp and we confirm the price and what to bring. The notary public must compare the copy with the original, so the original comes to our office, or we come to you.

What are the certified true copy fees in the UAE?

Our service price starts from AED 400 for a general document and from AED 500 for a passport, degree, bank statement, driving licence or utility bill copy. Government fees are paid on top at cost. We confirm the final price before you pay.

Can a lawyer certify a true copy instead?

Our in-house notary public certifies the copy. If the office that asked for it names who must certify it, for example a lawyer, follow its wording. Send us the request on WhatsApp and we tell you whether a notary certified copy matches it.

Is a certified true copy the same as true copy attestation?

No. The certified true copy is the notary step. Attestation is a further step by MOFAIC, needed only when the office asks for it. See true copy attestation in Dubai.
