Power of Attorney for Company Representative in Dubai

A power of attorney for company representative use lets your company name a person to act for it. That person can be a manager, an employee or an outside agent. The company is the one giving the power. The person who signs is only its voice.

We draft the document, check the powers against your trade licence and translate it with a legal translator. We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit private notary services.

In short

  • Price: from AED 1,500, plus government fees at cost.
  • Who signs: the person your MOA or resolution names as authorised to sign for the company.
  • What to bring: trade licence, MOA or resolution, the signatory's original ID and the representative's ID details.
  • Where: in person, at your office, or online.
  • Next step: if the document is going abroad, it goes to MOFAIC for attestation.

Three ways to get it notarised

In person with our in-house notary public

The notary public checks the signatory's original ID, reads the document, watches the signatory sign and applies the seal. Bring the company stamp if your company uses one.

Home or office visit

We come to your office, home or hospital. Price on request, plus the Dubai private notary government fee of AED 1,000 per trip outside the place of work.

Online

UAE law lets a notary use IT tools in place of personal appearance (Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 18). Our e-notary guide explains the official channels.

When a company needs a representative

A company cannot walk into an office. A person has to. A representative power of attorney is the paper that shows an office why that person may speak for you. Typical cases:

  • The owner lives abroad and a manager runs daily matters in Dubai.
  • A branch or a new project needs someone to deal with government counters.
  • An outside agent will collect documents, sign forms or renew licences for the company.
  • The signatory is travelling and the company still needs a form signed.

Naming a general manager is a company decision made under the company's own papers. A power of attorney is the notarised paper that shows other offices what a person may do for you.

Who signs and in what capacity

The principal is the company. The person at the notary signs on its behalf, in the capacity written in the document, for example manager, partner or director. The notary reads the document and checks that the signatory is that person.

The signatory's authority must come from the company's own papers, such as the MOA or a resolution. If your MOA says two partners must sign together, both come. A signatory with no written authority can be refused.

What the power of attorney should say

Write it so that a clerk who has never met you understands it in one reading.

  • The company: full name exactly as on the trade licence, the number on it, and the licensing authority.
  • The representative: full name as in the passport, nationality, passport and Emirates ID numbers.
  • The powers, one by one: for example "to renew the trade licence", "to sign the lease for the office at [address]", "to receive company mail".
  • The limits: what the representative may not do, such as selling company assets or borrowing in the company's name.
  • The end date: the law sets no fixed term, so choose a date that suits you.

Acts beyond ordinary management, such as selling an asset or settling a dispute, need a special agency that names them (Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025, Article 870). See our special power of attorney page for that.

Checklist

Documents to bring

  • Valid trade licence of the company.
  • MOA, or the resolution that gives the signatory authority.
  • Original passport and Emirates ID of the signatory.
  • Passport and Emirates ID details of the representative, so we can write them correctly.
  • Company stamp, if you use one.

Step by step

The steps

1

Send us the licence, the MOA or resolution and the IDs by WhatsApp or email.

2

We draft the power of attorney, check the powers against your licence and order the Arabic text. A Dubai notary expects an Arabic text alongside (Dubai Law No. 4 of 2013, Article 27).

3

The signatory signs in front of the notary, in person, at your office or online.

4

For use abroad, we take care of the MOFAIC attestation.

Mistakes to avoid

Mistakes that get it refused

  • The company name differs from the trade licence by one word.
  • The signatory has no written authority in the MOA or resolution.
  • Powers are written as "everything", with no list.
  • A licensing authority asks for its own wording, and the draft was never checked with it first. Ask the receiving office before you sign.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can an employee be the company representative?

Yes, if the company's authorised signatory names that person in the power of attorney. The document, not the job title, gives the power.

Does the representative have to come to the notary?

No. The company's signatory signs before the notary. The representative uses the notarised document afterwards.

Is this the same as a general manager appointment?

Not exactly. A general manager is named under the company's own documents. A power of attorney lists what a person may do for the company in named matters. Call or WhatsApp us if you are unsure which you need.

Can the same document be used for a free zone company?

The structure is the same. The free zone authority may ask for its own wording, so check with it before you sign.

Who attests it for use abroad?

MOFAIC attests it, online only. We take care of it with the right document class.
