Chase Private Client Notary Services When You Live in the UAE

If you bank with Chase Private Client or another US bank and live in Dubai, you may be asked to notarise a form: a signature card, an account change, a power of attorney or a property document. Chase private client notary services, like any US bank's notary service, take place at the bank in the United States. From the UAE, you need a route that works here, and there are two main ones.

PrivateNotaryDubai.com has no connection with Chase or JPMorgan Chase.

At a glance

  • A US bank's own notary is available where the bank operates, in the United States.
  • Route 1: the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the US Consulate General in Dubai, which provide notarial services for documents for use in the United States.
  • Route 2: a UAE notary, followed by attestation if the US recipient asks for it. The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so there is no apostille.
  • Always ask the bank first which route it accepts. Banks often have their own rules for documents signed outside the US.

Route 1: the US embassy or consulate

For documents that will be used in the United States, a US mission abroad is often the route a US bank expects. The signer attends in person with ID, and the consular officer notarises the signature. Appointments are needed.

This route suits you if:

  • the bank's form says "notarised by a US notary or a US consular officer",
  • you are a US citizen or the document is a US legal form,
  • you can travel to Abu Dhabi or the Dubai consulate on an appointment date.

Route 2: a UAE notary

A document can also be signed before our in-house notary public in Dubai. The notary checks your identity from your passport or Emirates ID, confirms you understand and agree to the document, and seals it (Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 7).

Two points to check with the bank first:

  • Will they accept a UAE notary's seal? Some US institutions do, some do not.
  • Do they need attestation? A UAE notarised document for use abroad may need MOFAIC attestation and then the destination country's embassy. Ask the bank exactly what it needs before you book.

A UAE notarised instrument is in Arabic, with conditional exceptions for foreign languages (Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 5). For an English US bank form, ask us in advance how it will be handled.

How we help with route 2

  • We read the bank's instructions with you and list what the notary will need.
  • We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit notary services.
  • We take care of the legal translation if one is needed.
  • If attestation follows, we explain the steps and can take care of the MOFAIC stage.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Chase bank notary services from Dubai?

A bank's notary service is available at its branches. From Dubai, the usual options are the US embassy or consulate, or a UAE notary if the bank accepts one.

Is a Chase notary free?

That is set by the bank for its customers in the US. Ask Chase directly.

Will a US bank accept a document notarised in Dubai?

Some do and some do not. Ask the bank in writing before you sign, and ask whether it also needs attestation.

Can I get an apostille in Dubai for a US bank?

No. The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. UAE documents follow the attestation route instead.
