Your agent can view the car, agree the deal and sign the papers while you are abroad, at work or unwell. We draft the document, check it with you and have it signed before a notary public. We prepare the English text and the Arabic version before you arrive. ### Home or hospital visit We come to your home, hospital or office. If a power is not written, the agent may be refused when they try to use it. Think through each step and name it. * **The car:** make, model, year, colour, or a clear description such as a used SUV up to a set budget. * **The deal:** agree the price, sign the sale contract and pay the seller. * **The papers:** receive the car, the keys and the documents. * **The registration:** put the car in your name, once the buyer's side is complete. * **The insurance:** arrange it, if you want the agent to do so. Keep the document to the purchase. For anything beyond it, use a separate power of attorney. ## Buying with a car loan A car loan is a separate contract with a bank, and the bank has its own rules. Ask the bank what authority it accepts from an agent before you sign anything. Many banks publish their own form. We do not state the bank's requirements, because each bank sets its own. Mistakes to avoid ## Mistakes that get it refused * **Broad words.** "Manage my affairs" does not clearly cover buying a car. UAE civil law says broad wording is limited to management acts ([Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025](https://uaelegislation.gov.ae/en/legislations/4011), Article 871). * **Wrong names.** Write the agent's name exactly as in their passport. * **No limit on money.** State a maximum price if you want one. The agent should know the budget. * **No end date.** The law sets no fixed term, so the document's own term applies (Article 897). Yes, if the document names the purchase and the agent's powers. The more clearly it names each act, the less likely an office is to refuse it. ### Can I give a power of attorney for a car loan? You can name the loan in the document, but the bank decides what it accepts. Ask the bank first, then we draft to its wording. ### Do I have to be in Dubai to sign? No. You can sign online, or at home if you are in the UAE. If you sign abroad, you use a notary there, and the document then needs MOFAIC attestation in the UAE. ### Is there a fixed validity? No fixed period exists in the law. The document's end date or end event applies.
