## Three ways to get it notarised

In person with our in-house notary public in Dubai

Many Abu Dhabi residents work in Dubai or pass through it. On a day you are in the city, our in-house notary public checks each signer's original ID, reads the document, watches you sign and applies the seal.

A visit to your home

For elderly relatives or a parent with a newborn, a visit may be the only realistic option. Tell us where you are and we say whether a visit can be arranged. The fee depends on the notary route.

Online, or in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi courts are run by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD). Its [service manual](https://www.adjd.gov.ae/AR/Documents/%D8%AF%D9%84%D9%8A%D9%84_%D8%AE%D8%AF%D9%85%D8%A7%D8%AA_%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%83%D8%A7%D8%AA%D8%A8_%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%AF%D9%84_%D9%88%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%AB%D9%8A%D9%82Eng.pdf) says applications are made on the ADJD website, then a remote meeting with the notary follows. Some offices prefer an Abu Dhabi notarisation, so ask them first. For online notarisation through the Ministry of Justice or Dubai Courts, see [e-notary in Dubai](https://privatenotarydubai.com/e-notary-dubai/).

Step by step

## How it works

1

You tell us which office asked for the document and what exactly they wrote.

2

We draft the text with names as printed in each passport and your Abu Dhabi address in full.

3

We translate it with a legal translator registered with the Ministry of Justice, where the notary needs Arabic. See [translation and notary services](https://privatenotarydubai.com/translation-services-in-dubai/).

4

You check the final version line by line.

5

You sign in front of the notary. We take care of the [MOFAIC attestation](https://www.mofa.gov.ae/en/services/attestation) if the document is going to an embassy or abroad.

## What the notary does at the signing

The notary checks each signer's identity from an official ID, confirms the person has capacity and is signing freely, and reads out the document and its effect ([Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 7](https://uaelegislation.gov.ae/en/legislations/1563)). If you do not share the notary's language, a registered interpreter is used (Article 8). Then you sign, and the notary signs and seals.

Questions

## Frequently asked questions

### Is a private notary in Abu Dhabi different from a notary public?

Both are notaries. People often say "notary public" for the court or ministry notary, and a private notary is an individual on the register who works from a private office. The seal and the checks serve the same purpose.

### Can I use an Abu Dhabi notary public for a document going to India or the Philippines?

Usually yes. After the seal, most papers bound for another country go to MOFAIC and then often to that country's embassy.

### I live in Al Ain. Does this page apply to me?

Al Ain is in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, so the same planning applies.

### Can both parents sign in different emirates?

Sometimes, if the document allows separate signatures. Signing together is more reliable.
