We prepare the English text and the Arabic version first. ### Home or hospital visit We come to your home, hospital or office. It does not decide who inherits, and it does not change anyone's share. A notary has limits in this area. [Dubai Law No. 4 of 2013](https://dlp.dubai.gov.ae/Legislation%20Reference/2013/Law%20No.%20(4%29%20of%202013%20Concerning%20Notaries%20Public%20in%20the%20Emirate%20of%20Dubai.html) bars the notary from Muslim family affairs, from real property rights and from matters reserved to another authority (Article 21). The same law lets a notary attest a will made by a non-Muslim (Article 20). Whoever handles the estate, a court or another authority, decides what it accepts and what it asks for. We do not state its rules. Ask the office or your lawyer first. They can tell you what wording they need. ## Tasks people often put in it * Collect documents and copies from offices. * Sign and submit forms for you. * Deal with a bank about an account that belonged to the person who died. * Receive papers and letters for you. * Follow up the case with your lawyer. Name each task. Under UAE civil law, broad wording covers management acts only, and some acts need a special agency that names them ([Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025](https://uaelegislation.gov.ae/en/legislations/4011), Articles 870 and 871). Mistakes to avoid ## Mistakes that get it refused * **Not naming the estate.** Give the full name of the person who died and the matter. * **Powers not written.** Anything missing may be refused. * **Wrong spelling of a name.** Match each passport. * **No end date.** The law sets no fixed term. The document's own term applies (Article 897). * **Skipping the receiving office.** Ask what wording it wants. Questions ## Frequently asked questions ### Can I give a power of attorney for inheritance in the UAE from abroad? Yes. You sign before a notary in your country, and the document then needs MOFAIC attestation in the UAE. Ask the receiving office what else it wants. ### Can I do it online? Remote notarisation is allowed under Article 18 of Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022. If you sign before a notary abroad, that country's notary steps and MOFAIC attestation in the UAE still apply. ### Does the notary decide the inheritance? No. The notary attests your signature on the power of attorney. The estate is handled by the court or authority responsible for it. ### Does it work for a will? A will is a different document.
