Ask before anything is booked. * **The patient must understand:** the notary checks identity, capacity and free consent, and reads out the document before sealing it (Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 7). * **Medication and timing:** strong pain relief or sedation can mean the notary cannot go ahead. Some wards limit visitors or ask for a set time. 02 ### Is the patient's original ID in the hospital? Emirates ID or passport must be at the bedside. A photo on a phone is not enough. 03 ### Is there a medical reason to wait? If the doctor expects the patient to be clearer tomorrow, a day's wait can save a wasted visit. Once you have the ward's answer, send it to us with the document type and the names. ## Documents patients most often sign in hospital ### A power of attorney for a family member The patient gives a spouse, adult child or sibling written authority for a specific task: a bank matter, a tenancy renewal, a car sale or a visa application. A special power of attorney names the task exactly. This is often what people mean when they search for an affidavit Dubai hospital signing. ### A consent or NOC letter A parent in hospital gives consent for a child to travel with the other parent, or for a visa renewal. ### A declaration For example, a statement of residence or of family status that a bank or school has asked for. Wills and documents about medical treatment follow their own rules and are not covered by this page. ## What the notary checks at the bedside The checks are the same as at an office, but a hospital makes some of them harder. Under Article 7 of the federal notary law, the notary must be satisfied about three things: ### Who the patient is The ID is compared with the patient's face and with the name in the document. A wristband is not an ID. ### That the patient can decide The notary talks to the patient directly, not through the family, and may ask simple questions about what the document does. ### That the choice is free Relatives may be asked to step out while the notary speaks with the patient. The notary then reads the text out and explains its effect. A patient who does not share the notary's language is helped by a registered interpreter, as Article 8 requires. If the patient cannot hold a pen, tell us before booking. The notary will decide how the signature can be given. Dubai Law No. 4 of 2013 covers this case: a fingerprint can take the place of a signature (Article 30), and if illness or disability rules out both, the patient can name someone to sign or fingerprint for them (Article 31). Step by step ## How we run a hospital visit 1 **You tell us** the hospital, the ward, the patient's name and what the document must do. 2 **We draft the document** and send you a copy for approval. 3 **We confirm the ward's permission** and the visiting slot. 4 **We book the notary** and message you the slot, the agreed cost and which originals must be at the bed. 5 **At the bedside**, a family member meets the notary at reception and brings them to the ward. 6 **After sealing**, the original document is handed to the person the patient names. Keep the room quiet during the visit. Ask the nurse whether the visit can avoid medicine rounds. ## Online notary Dubai hospital: when a screen can work Some patients ask for an online notary Dubai hospital session instead. Questions ## Frequently asked questions ### Is a bedside signing possible in intensive care? That is the hospital's decision first, and then the notary's, because the patient must be able to understand and agree. Ask the ICU team before contacting us. ### Can the family sign for the patient? No. Only the person named as the signer can sign. If the patient cannot give consent at all, a notarised document is not the right route, and the family should ask a lawyer about the options. ### Which hospitals do you visit?
